LIMBLESS MAY GROW NEW LEGS

Some day it may be possible for people who have lost a limb to grow a new one. Dr Oscar Shotto recently told the National Academy of Sciences in Washington that parts of embryonic animals had been grafted on to adult frogs and newts. Growths followed and from these eyes, ears and mouths developed. It might be possible, said Mr Shotto, to apply this knowledge to human beings and recreate an entire leg from thigh to foot.
