Men’s Baseball League
At the annual meeting of the Manawatu Men’s Baseball League, it was revealed that with a membership of about 70, the league was in a position to field approximately six teams. It was decided that practice games should commence early' in December at the Hokowhitu Domain and continue weekly. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr. Wallace Cook;. president, Mr. J. R. Smith; vice-presidents, Messrs C.. Stagpoole and J. Eagle. The Australian Labour Party conference has unanimously decided to ask the Federal Government to arrange for a referendum as early as possible, seeking amendment to the Commonwealth Constitution to enable the Federal Parliament to legislate for the social and economic needs of Australia.
