The Police Force
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —In a recent issue of your valuable paper a correspondent appealed so that future recruits for the Police Force might be selected from varied denominations. But a more vital aspect of this problem—and one that should receive public support—is an immediate increase in tlie salaries of these valiant men. Every unit of the Force should receive adequate pay commensurate with the dangerous tasks that so frequently confront them. Their onerous duties arc but hazily understood by society, yet were it not for the constant vigilance of these brave men neither life nor property would remain immune. Therefore before this session terminates practical organisations should consult the Government and endeavour to finalise this matter. For in the united activities of the Police Force lies individual and national safety.—l am, etc., PRO BONO PUBLICO.
