(To the Editor.) Sir, —It has been stated that the Police Force in all probability will be considerably increased in the near future. Bhouid this bo so, would it not be a fine gesture for the Police Department to appoint personnel representing all denominations in ratio to the census returns.—l am, etc., R ATIO REPRESEN TATION. Further Remand Granted On the application of Mr. H. R. Cooper, for the police, the Magistrate, Mr. C. C. Marsack, S.M., yesterday granted a further remand of one week in the case in which Leonard Edward Spelman, aged 27 years, a newspaper runner, of 18 Weston Avenue, and Charles John Bax, aged 29 yeai’3, contractor, of Cloverlea, are being charged with unlawfully making spirits. The Magistrate granted an application by Mr. A. W. Yortt, for the accused, that their bail bo extended.
