SEMI-FINAL GALLOPS AT AWAPUNL The course proper was hard at Awapuni when horses engaged at Woodville were given their final gallops and most of the fast work tooJc place on the plough which was slow, particularly over the last three furlongs. Sir Bradbury (W. J. Broughton) worked over seven on the course proper with the pace on for the last three. He was not required to do better than fifteen to the furlong for the first half mile but he broke 42 for tho last three to complete in 1.41 1-5. C. A. Dowry is to ride him in the Oete Handicap at Woodville. On the plough Don Mac (H. Pearce) galloped a mile with Our Pat (Broughton). The pace was steady throughout and they finished strongly to complete in 1.49 1-5. Theolateral (Bowry) galloped a mile on his own and he was timed to run the last seven i.. 1.37 1-5 and the last three in 42 4-5. It is expected that he will start in tho Bolton Handicap at Woodville. Gala Song (A. S. Ewan) had Poutu (Nichols) as a companion over a mile. They were given plenty of time to find their feet but they were going well at the five/from which peg tney ran home in 1.10 3-5 to complete in 1.55 3-5. Beneve (H. Fearce) and Tid-apa (Bowry; were responsible for one of the best sevens of the morning. They began well and cut the first fialf out in 53. They were together at the finish after running the seven in 1.35 3-5. Duplicity (Broughton) sprinted six smartly in 1.21 2-5, breaking 40 for tho first three. Flying Ace (J. Fagan) worked twice round and was then speeded up for the last three iu 40 3-5. Alethea, Omahina, Kaitoa and Saludos were restricted to steady pace work. Rink (A. Bowness) and Rampant (Ewan) started from the seven and after going easily to the five they sprinted home in 1.8 1-5, the last three in 40 1-5. They were going well at the finish and Rampant appeared to be doing a little better than Rink. Merry Robin (Bowry) and Flightless (Fagan) sprinted four in 54, and Tukumaitu covered five easily in 1.13 1-5. Solver (A‘. Bowness) worked over soven with the pace on from the six. Imprint (Ewan) joined him short of the four and they were home from the three in 41 2-5. Solver took 1.23 2-5 for the six. Gay Rouen (Bowry) worked steadily over six in 1.26 2-5. Lady Spiral (Broughton) and Roto Parera (M. Andrews) just broke 1.24 for the last six of seven.

The sale of the New Zealand galloper Immediate to a patron of the Sydney trainer R. Meads, was made on a ship in Sydney Harbour yesterday afternoon. The horse was on the Waipori, bound for New Zealand, when the final deal was completed. Immediate was taken from the ship a few hours before sailing time. The trainer (E. Ellis), who negotiated the sale on behalf of the owner (Mr. M. Meehan) refused to disclose tho price. He revealed, however, that he Had refused an offer of 4000 guineas after the gelding had run in the Melbourne Cup. Typhoon sailed on the Waipori. NOT RACING ON JANUARY 19. The Foxton Racing Club was to have raced on January 19 but the Club has been granted a change of date to May 4. NOT RACING NEXT WEEK. The Poverty Bay and Vincent meetings scheduled for December 1 will not be held. The clubs will apply for dates later in the season.
