Feilding Athletic Club Sports Meeting
There was a large attendance for the first evening meeting of the Feilding Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club held on Kowhai Park on Wednesday and competition for the several events was stronger than usual. Many performers were out for the benefit of a trial to fit themselves for the more serious work which the season will provide. The results of the several events were:—
Girls’ races, under 6 years: E. Mudgway I, S. Corbett 2, J. Gunsider 3; under 10 years: A. Mudgway 1, D. Holman 2, B. Jones 3; under 15 years: J. Jones 1, E. Powell 2, A. Cox 3. Boys’ races, under 6 years: P. Mudgway 1, P. Kelly 2, R. Bramwell 3; under 10 years: W. Jones 1, B. Kitchen 2. G. Goldsack 3; over 10 years: K. Smith 1, R. Corbett 2, B. Lee 3; half-mile cycle: Walker 1, Jarrett 2. Women’s events, 100 yards: R. Powell 1, J. Powell 2, L. Christian 3; 75 yards: L. Christian 1, B. Smith 2, R. Powell 3.
Men’s events, half-mile cycle: Mobcley 1, Eade 2, Page 3; 100 yards: J. Gamieson 1, V. Nix 2, G. Taylor 3; 220 yards: I. Fergusson 1, G. Johnson 2, J. Gamieson 3; 880 yards: M. Reid 1, K. Mackie 2, V. Nix 3; mile and a-half cycle: Johnson 1, Allen 2, Holt 3. In this event, Mobeley actually finished first, but was disqualified for crossing in the straight.
