Farewell Dance
A happy evening was spent in the Ballance Hall recently when the residents of Mangahao took the opportunity to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. O’Hara who arc leaving the district. The large gathering of friends from Mangahao and surrounding districts paid ample tribute to the popularity of the O’Hara family. After a bountiful supper, provided by the ladies, had been dispensed, Mr. and Mrs. O ’Hara amidst much applause, were called to the stage. Upon mounting the platform Mrs. O’Hara was presented with a posy of flowers by little Grahamo Fulton. After eulogising the many good qualities of the guests of the evening Mr. G. Gregory asked them to accept a Royal Doulton dinner set and a cheque as a small token of the high esteem in which they have been held in the district. Mr. C. J. Eising, on behalf of the school committee, spoke feelingly of the good work Mrs. O’Hara had accomplished in connection with the school. After the guests had been accorded musical honours Mr. O ’Hara suitably replied. The rest of the evening was spent in dancing to music by Mrs. Tait. Several vocal items by Mr. J. Husband were enthusiastically received. Winners of a Monte Carlo were Miss Doris Eddie and Mr. K. Priest.
