WOODVILLE AND DISTRICT
General Notes Prompt action on the part of Mr. Pettersen, gas manager, and Mr. Forbes, Mayor of Woodville, saved the ratepayers a fair sum in repair bills recently. During the height of the gale on Saturday morning, Mr. Pettersen noticed that the gale was forcing tho roof of the gasworks skywards. Realising that he was powerless alone, ho rang the Mayor, who was promptly on the scene. With the help of other willing hands and, strong arms, they battened a huge beam down with wire and kept the roof in position. Nevertheless, it was a matter of touch and go. Woodville is fortunate in having a practical Mayor.
