W.D.F.U.
Instances amusing and grim which had taken place during their internment, were told to a large gathering of members of the branch on Tuesday last by two local returned prisoners of war —Messrs A. Jones and A. Mahoney. Each in turn spoke of his life in the German camps and of the happier times spent later in England. Business dealt with at the meeting included the Division ’s participation in the A. and P. Association’s show to be held in February next. Arrangements are well in hand for a baby show, a special feature of which will be a class for the children of servicemen, a nail driving competition, and the W.D.’s annual produce, cookery and handcraft stall. A resolution *‘ to support the Farmers ’ Union in whatever action they take regarding the country quota question” was unanimously passed. Afternoon tea was later served by the hostesses—the Ballance members.
