PURCHASE BY FRENCH IN INDOCHINA SAIGON, Nov. 9. A French spokesman estimated stocks of crude rubber in Indo-China at between 100,000 and 200,000 tons. He added that the Government subsidy was established in order to purchase the entire stock at a special price which would compensate the planters for their losses during the war. Indo-Chinese nationalists had recently threatened to destroy the stocks. The French did not know whether the threat was being carried out, but large fires were observed recently.
