Altered Bus Timetable Objected To
The proposed alteration in the timetable of the bus which serves the Apiti district does not meet with the approval of residents in that area. At a meeting of the Pohangina County Council on Thursday, the chairman (Cr. W, McKay) said they had had a very good mail service to Apiti for many years. It was a service which enabled residents of Apiti to travel to Feilding or Palmerston North and return the same day. It was of great benefit to the northern end of the county and carried a number of children to school. He understood that contract had now been re-let and it had been suggested that the timetable was to be altered so that the bus would leave Feilding in the morning and do the round trip to Palmerston North. This would mean that people who wanted to go to Feilding would have to remain there until the following day. Mr. McKay said he thought the council should object to any alteration in the timetable and moved that the council give strong support to the ratepayers in any protest they might make.
