Has Rim His Last Race Don Quex, winner of last season’s Manawatu, Marton and Wellington Cups, lias finished his racing career. He started in the Hawke’s Bay Cup last Saturday but after going kindly for about six furlongs, he failed to respond when the pressure was applied. Announcing that Don Quex was to be retired, Mr. Jim McMillan said: “Don’s heart is still in the right place but it was made apparent at Hastings that he is still suffering from the injury ho received when he fell in the Wellington Cup.” For his owners, Messrs J. and L. McMillan, Don Quex won over £6OOO. Not Racing To-morrow Five horses from Harold Griffith’s stable were to have raced at Hastings to-morrow but they aro not making the trip. They were Flying Ace, Dutch Mary, Persuade, Happy Climax and Nursery. HASTINGS RIDING ENGAGEMENTS W. J. Broughton’s riding engagements at Hastings to-morrow will include Treasure Tee, Queen’s Charm, Royal Greek, Little Billy, Da Vinci and Tribal Night.
