Wanganui Presbytery

The Presbytery of Wanganui met for the February meeting at Huuterville. The Moderator, Rev. G. Hercus, conducted the annual Communion service and later presided at the Presbytery meeting. A welcome was given to three new members—Revs. R. M. Rogers (Taihape), E. R. Alexander (Palrnerst<sn North outfields) and Mr. R. E. Leggott (Mangaweka-Kewa). A motion of sympathy with Rev. R. Crocket (Bulls) was adopted, members standing ■while the Moderator led in prayer. The clerk presented a report of the ordination and induction of Rev. R. M. Rogers to St. David’s, Taihape, in December, 1944. Correspondence was received from the Missions Committee oh the appointment of new home missionaries. Besides Messrs Alexander and Leggott, Revs. R. P. Steele (Oha-kune-Eaetihi) and W. H. Nicholas (supply, Wanganui North) have been appointed. A report from the Victoria College student chaplain was received aud liis work commended to congregational support. A Commission of Presbytery was appointed to meet the Bulls congregation and the minister, Rev. R. Crocket, who desires to retire. The application for a long service diploma in youth work for Miss N. Wilson, of Bulls, was approved. Apiti congregation applied for permission to build a Sunday School hall. Their application was referred to the Property and Finance Committee for consideration and action. Presbytery committees were appointed for 1945. Arrangements have been made for a School of Theology in May, led by Rev. Dr. J. Henderson, of Knox College, Dunedin. Hunterville ladies provided the catering arrangements for the day, aud were thanked by the visitors. The ladies of the Presbytery held their P.A. meeting in St. Andrew’s Hall.
