Manawatu Co-operative Building Society
A ' general meeting of shareholders was held last night when Mr. G. B. Cope presided. Appropriations amounting to £4OOO were proceeded with and following are the results:—No. 6 Group, £SOO, H. E. Reid (Patea); £2OO, B. J. Trott (Aramoho); No. 7 Group, £SOO, F. R. A. Kershaw (Waikanae); No. 8 Group (sale), £BOO at £34 per £IOO, £SOO at £3l per £190; No. 9 Group (sale), £2OO at £35 per £IOO, £6OO at £3l per £IOO, £2OO at £3l per £IOO. The chairman stated that the new group, No. 10, was being formed and within a week 200 shares were applied for. The group would close when 1000 shares was reached. It was a source of satisfaction to report that many shareholders joining Groups No.’s 1,2, 3 and 4 finished up with a freehold worth anything up to £I4OO and in addition dividends out of profits amounting to £6 per share. They also received their share money in cash; in many cases amounting to £195.
