An outstanding record of successes has been established during the last month by one of the Pahiatua district’s most youthful equestriennes. Dorothy Anderson, of Ngaturi, entered her pony at the recent Feilding and Dannevirke A. and P. Shows, and at the local horse sports. She received no fewer than 38 prizes, of which 21 were first places. Five of the local inter-houso marching teams are in strict training in preparation for the New Zealand championships to be held at Wanganui this week-end They are Pringles, Judds, Garthew-Hartleys, Herberts and Combined Garages. Supporters of the girls are reminded that to-night at Mangamutu, the younger set is sponsoring a monster dance to raise funds for the travelling expenses of these teams. Tho Pahiatua School Committee is making inquiries through the War Assets Realisation Board, as to whether a suitable Army building might be made available for conversion into a school assembly hall. The women’s section of the Pahiatua branch of the R.S.A. held a successful shop day yesterday, when a sum of £4l was raised. Tho copper trail produced £6, while the balance was produced bv the sale of vegetables, cakes, etc., and competitions.
