The intermediate school proposals were further explained to a meeting of the Lytton Street School committee oil Monday evening by Mr. L. J. Wild, headmaster of the Feilding Agricultural High {School, who is responsible tor 1 lie scheme of educational development in Feilding. Points were debated and the meeting adjourned for further consideration to be accorded the projest at a special meeting to be held shortly. When the Manawatu licensing committee met in quarterly meeting at Feilding further adjournments in the applications for licenses for the Longburn Hotel and the Denbigh Hotel, Feilding, were granted pending the completion in the case of the Longburn Hotel rebuilding and in the case of the Denbigh Hotel alterations. Reports were presented that these matters were being expedited as rapidly as existing conditions in the building trade permitted. Mr. A. Coleman, S.M., presided and on the Bench with him were Messrs. G. Goodbehere, W. G. Booth, G. Bartholomew and P. G. Guy. Due to representations on the part of parents the matter of the admission of five-year-old children to Lytton street School, Feilding, was raised at Monday’s meeting of the school committee by the headmaster (Mr. W. H. Smith) who stated that the -numbers offering called for added accommodation. Recommendations had gone forward for the provision of an extra room as a temporary measure to meet the situation pending the reconstruction of the school and the Wanganui Education Board had taken up the question with the Education Department. Agreement was reached at Monday’s meeting of the Lytton Street School committee in Feilding to join the Manawatu-Oroua School Committees’ Association. Messrs. M. Hausmann, N. Peat and C. V. Hostick had resumed duties on September 4. Messrs. Bates and Crosby (inspectors) had visited the school during August.

The industrial role of Feilding 13 not generally adequately assessed mainly because the town is accepted as the centre of a wealthy farming district. However, in addition to those processing industries linked to primary production there are other activities which have been recently added to. in premises in Manchester Street is at present being built a large and spacious omnibus, JUii. overall, xor the Madge Motor Co. This is being built on a new chassis and the job wnich is in the hands of Mr. i\ a. Patterson, of i uarazyu cstreet, is expected to be eu the road before the cnnstmas season arrives. The work represents quite the biggest coachbuilding activity ever undertaken in the district and Mr. Patterson has a baciiground of training in this skilled craft althougn he has been following farming pursuits for some years. New Zealand hardwoods are being used for the frames while sheet steel will cover the whole. The design is most modern and when it takes the road this omnibus will be the largest in service in the Manawatu. Another industry is that set up by Mr. L. L. Bailey, of Denbigh {Street, who has established a woodwork plant aiso in Manchester {Street. Here a variety of.jobs are undertaken and the interest already taken in this activity suggests that there is plenty of work offering.
