Woodville Basketball

The final of the competition games was played last Thursday night. The results were as follows: —Waratahs 15 v. invaders 15, Spitfires 14 v. Tuis 6. The championship resulted in Kiwis winning with 14 points. Invaders were next with 9 points, Waratahs 7, Spitfires and This equal 5 points. The following toam has been chosen to play a team from Dannevirke next Saturday at 3 p.m. on the school grounds and if wet in the Drill Hall:— Defence, L. Smith, M. Brotherstone, A. Macintosh (emergency, P. Busby); centre, N, Squires (capt.), N. Wade, J. Fulton (emergency, N. May); goal, B. Hares, M. Martin, P. Bullot (emergency, M. Goldsworthy). All girls arc asked to bring a white blouse. Uniforms will bo provided. Any player unable to play must notify the captain immediately.

The committee has decided to run a tournament next Thursday night, September 14, commencing at 7.45 p.m. in aid of patriotic funds, all players and onlookers to pay Is at the door. A boys’ team will also compete for the cup. It is hoped to wind up the season with a dance when all trophies will be presented.
