“Seventh Column” to Rebuild Battered Reich
Received Friday. 10.40 p.m. NEW YORK, Sept. L Germany has created a “seventh column” charged with the task of rebuilding the Reich after defeat, according to a confidential report received by the newspaper Excelsior via Turkey, says the New York Times’ Mexico City correspondent. To achieve this aim the Nazis have sent large quantities of jewels and money to neutral and enemy countries to finance propaganda for a soft peace for Germany. This will be carried out by Gestapo agents aboard disguised as refugees and posing as anti-Nazis. These agents have been instructed to use the line that the German people were not responsible for the war, but only the Hitler gang.
