Danish-Norwegian Appeal

(To the Editor.) Sir, —May X by your favour remind the public and, in particular, our many citizens of Danish and Norwegian stock, that all receipts at the Patriotic Shop on Thursday next, when my committee will be in charge, will be allocated to Danish and Norwegian relief. It is unnecessary for me to refer to the tremendous struggle our Norwegian kinsfolk are putting up for our cause or to the work of the underground army in Denmark in combating its ancient enemy. The large mercantile marine of Denmark and Norway still ploughs the seven seas helping to keep flowing the supply of food and munitions to our armies. Thousands of refugees from their homelands are in want and distress under the invader’s heel is great. Now and in the future all the help we in this favoured land can give will be little enough. I appeal to all Danes and Norwegians and their descendants to rise to this occasion and demonstrate by donations of goods and cash, that while enjoying the peace and prosperity of New Zealand, they have not forgotten the present unhappy situation and dire need of our people in the old lands.—l am, etc., G. C. PETERSEN, Chairman, Palmerston North branch, N.Z. Anglo-Danish Society.
