Wellington Wedding Of Palmerston North Interest

The wedding took place on Saturday, August 5, 1944, at St. Peter’s Church, Willis Street, Wellington, of Rona May. eldest daughter of Mr. F. Hare and the late Mrs. Hare, of Wellington, and John Richard, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Seed, A dele Street, Woodville. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Austin Charles.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a beautiful white satin gown cut on classical lines, low waisted and gathered exquisitely. The neckline was heart-shaped. Her only ornament was a gold locket, a possession of her late mother. The long tulle veil, which was dotted with dainty white satin flowers, was held in place by three white velvet roses. Her bouquet was of freesias, white cyclamen and maiden-hair fern. Her three bridesmaids were her sister, Miss Doris Hare, Miss Nora Seed, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss June Fahey, friend of the bride. They wore green, apricot and blue, self-patterned, satin gowns respectively, cut with low neckline and long waisted. Their bouquets were of deep pink camellias and they wore flowers in their hair to match their frocks. They also wore the bridegroom’s gift, a string of pearls. The best man was Mr. Herbert Stubbings, of Woodville, and the groomsmen were Mr. Eric Russell, of Wellington and Mr. Jack Hare, brother of the bride.

Mrs. W. Seed, wearing a frock of cinnamon brown with fur coat and black accessories, and Mrs. Fahey, gowned in dusky pink with a fur coat, were hostesses at the reception when about 100 guests were present.
