Foxton
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Ldg./Tel. N. P. Mudford, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. Mudford, of Gladstone Street, who has been serving with the Naval Forces for the past four years and has done lengthy service on the H.M.S. “Glasgow” and H.M.S. “Bermuda”, is now home on furlough. Prior to returning to New Zealand in charge of the wireless on the “Corvette” H.M.S. “Arabis”, he was associated with conveys to the North African campaign, Russia, Iceland as well as other places in the Arctic Circle and the North Atlantic Ocean. At the time Japan entered the war, he was stationed at Colombo and was associated with convoys travelling to various places in the Indian Ocean, Arabian Seas and the Bay of Bengal.
Mr. J. MacDonald, of Foxton, is an inmate of the Palmerston North hospital. Mr. F. Fowler, manager, Commercial Bank of Foxton, is leaving Foxton next week for Motueka. He will be replaced by Mr. Griffiths from Greymouth.
