Feilding Returned Services Association

Mr. F. J. Allen, president, was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Feilding B.S.A. when several more letters were received from overseas servicemen expressing their appreciation of the R.S.A. “Newsletter” forwarded them by the committee. The Mayor, Mr. T. L. Seddon, forwarded a copy of a letter he had forwarded to the Director of Rehabilitation, together with the reply received, regarding the committee’s suggestion that a rehabilitation officer should be appointed in Feilding to .handle all matters of rehabilitation in the Feilding district. The Director’s reply was to the effect that the suggestion would be given consideration and the committee decided to make further representations, setting out fully the reasons why it was deemed advisable to make the appointment. The South Taranaki B.S.A. wrote asking for particulars of any social or rehabilitation schemes brought into operation by the Feilding R.S.A. for the ’re-establish-ment in civilian life of men home from overseas. The reply sent by the sepretary. setting out local details was endorsed. Notification that the suggestion of the committee that Dominion-wide broadcasts regarding the efforts of the N.Z.R.S.A. to get farmers to act as employer-trainers of servicemen wishing to go on the land, was received from the general secretary, N.Z.R.S.A., who stated that the Dominion executive had been pleased to adopt the suggestion and that Mr. C. O. Bell,' chairman of the executive, would give the broadcasts on the Sunday night sessions. The Rongotea R.S.A. wrote asking the committee to appoint two representatives to attend a meeting to be held in Feilding on Friday regarding a stock raising scheme for servicemen farmers. Messrs H. D. Richardson and G. Burgess were appointed to attend. The question of holding a Rose Day in Feilding in aid of R.S.A. funds was brought forward by the chairman and following a full discussion it was decided to hold Rose Day this year in conjunction with the women's section shop day to be held on September 29. The secretary was instructed to make application to the Borough Council for permission to make the collection. Ten new members were elected.
