Pretty Wedding Celebrated At Dannevirke

MILLS—MOISEY A very pretty wedding took place at St. John’s Anglican Church, Dannevi’rke, on Saturday, August 12, the contracting parties being Pte. George Edward, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Mills, Oringi, and Frances Elizabeth, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moisey, of Uinutaoroa, Dannevirke. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Canon Stephenson. The bride looked very neat as she entered the church escorted by her father, wearing a wedding gown of ivory satin. She wore a beautiful veil and orange blossoms. The veil was kindly lent by a friend. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet of freesias and carnations, cyclamen, and maiden hair fern. The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Lila Cunningham, cousin of the bride (chief), and Miss Beryl Mills, cousin of the bridegroom. Each wore gowns of marina green taffeta, with head-dress of net worn to the shoulders, and held in place by a coronet of mauve and pink flowers. They.carried shower bouquets of freesias and cyclamen and maiden hair fern, and each wore a horseshoe brooch (a present from the bridegroom). The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. H. Mills, as best man, and Mr. D. Smith, cousin of the bride, as groomsman. The ushers at the church were Messrs K. Martin, cousin of the bridegroom, and R. Smith, cousin of the bride. While the register was being signed Mr. Reg Smith sang very nicely “I’ll Walk Beside You,’’ accompanied by Mr. H. T. Russell at the organ. After the ceremony a happy gathering of relatives met at the Popular Lounge, about 70 being received by the mothers of the bride and bridegroom, who each wore shoulder sprays of carnations. There were guests present from Hastings, Palmerston North, Wellington, Auckland, WaipuKurau, Feilding and surrounding districts. After the reception the hall was cleared and about 130 relatives and friends of the bride and bridegroom joined in dancing, interspersed with songs. When the happy couple left by car on their honeymoon the bride was wearing a navy hat and coat, and accessories to tone. Many beautiful presents were received by the happy couple, including many cheques.
