Business Girls Enjoy Social Evening

For the August social members of the Business Girls’ Club enjoyed the hospitality of Mrs. Raisin, Cuba Street, there being a good attendanco. Competitions and items occupied the evening very happily, prize winners being Misses C. Nicholson and M. Palmer, also Mrs. J. Riddle. Pleasure was given to the company by Miss Jean Heath with pianoforte solos and Miss Maureen Raisin • with recitations. Community singing, with Mrs. Riddle at the piano, was also enjoyed. It was revealed that 87 Christmas parcels had already been sent forward for members of the Maori Battalion and generous contributions were received that evening in readines; for a further packing next month. Supper provided a welcome interlude and before the evening concluded the secretary, Miss V. Royal, thanked Mrs. Raisin for her kindly hospitality and a very pleasant evening. Vice-presidents in attendance were Mrs. W. T. Royal and Miss J. Young, and there were apologies from Mesdamee A. E. Mansford (patroness) and M. H. Oram (president).
