What is Government’s Tyre Policy ?
It was reported to £u meeting of the Dannevirke District Primary Production Council that the supply of tyres and tubes is drastic and certain sizes are not available. When the Controller is not able to grant u permit those concerned seem to think that prov ided u recommendation is submitted by the council they will get supplies, but this is not so. However, tho council expressed its dissatisfaction with the present conditions, because there were cases which were absolutely priority, and assurance is wanted from the Minister that tyres in these cases would bo supplied without auy undue delay, provided the council could prove that they were urgently needed in the interests’ of production. This again means that the council definitely w ants io know the exact position and the policy of the Department. The council expressed pleasure that the Oil 1‘ uel Controller at Dannevirke and Woodvillc were as far as possible meeting the recommendations of the council.
