Social Evening at Plunket Mothers’ Club
A pleasantly varied programme arranged for the Plunket Mothers’ Club and presented at tho Plunket rooms on Monday evening to mark the opening of another year's activities was fully enjoyed by the large number attending. Bowls of * scarlet geraniums and gypsophila, also 1 hydrangeas provided a most effective j decoration. After the National Anthem ' a cordial welcome was extended by Mrs C. S. Lawson, president, who had arranged the programme, and who later thanked the performers for the pleasure provided. At the conclusion of the programme, Mrs. G. C. Petersen, president of the Palmerston North Plunket Committee, spoke of the annual street effort ■ of the Society and solicited help and cooperation in this important work. Those contributing to the evening’s pleasure I were as follow;—.Mesdames Gibson, W. |H. Loch, Miss Foot and Alwyn Harris, 1 pianoforte selections; M es(^arnes • Eaddy, C. Jamieson, M iss Gilmour and i Alwyn Harris, songs; Misses Thelma and Beverley Richardson. P. Penny and Mrs A. Ashby, elocutionary items; Jean Hardio, military dance. Further pleasure was provided by the St. George Strolling Players, in a thrilling play, produced by Miss M. Cranston.
