TRACKS WERE HEAVY AT AWAPUNI YESTERDAY FINAL GALLONS WERE NOT INSTRUCTIVE The Awapuni tracks were very heavy yesterday morning and the final gallops of horses engaged at the Wanganui meeting were not instructive. .Water lay in places on the course proper where the flags were wide out and Sir Bradbury, one of the first horses to work, was well and truly plastered with mud when he had finished a three-furlong flutter in 40 4*s—the best of the morning over the distance. The track was bad at the start and it got steadily worse as the morning advanced. Classform (11. I’. Stewart) and To Kawlti (S. Waddell) worked over five in 1.15, the last three in 43 o-5. The McMillan horses, Don Quex tA. S. Ewan) and UladyneV (It. Irwin) worked well over seven in 1.50, taking 1.1(3 for the last five. It was quite a good gallop under the conditions. Screen (A. G. Waddell), after a smart beginning, ran five in 1.10 3-5. She is not yet up to “concert pitch.’’ Foxcover (C. A. Dowry) and Flying Ace (D. W. Redstone) travelled at an even pace over six and they were still going strongly at the linish to complete in 1.3(3 3-5. Kailoa (Redstone) and l’lxaiaria (Dowry) were together at the end of five run in 1.13 3-5, the last three in 44. Rink travelled easily over three in 41. Vera Bynn and Nlgheun Were given a shade belter than three-quarter pace Aspen (S. Waddell) and Tavern Bight (A. b. Ewan) were kept to even time and Tavern Bight was going the better of the two at the finish. ITecious Golu (Howard) and Man's ' i’rido (Al. Andrews) came homo in 43 3-5 to complete half a mile in 00 3-5. Rickie (J. Bowness) and Social Climber (Andrews) went well over live in 1.13. Deneve (Pearce) and Some Sing (.Redstone) slipped over three in 44. Matawenc (V. Sellars) Avas in front of the two-year-old, Bold (Kendall) after three run in 43 1-5. Moderate (Pearce), Creek Effort (Andrews) and War Credit (Bowness) Avent strongly throughout a se\en furlong trial which took them j. 45. Beisurely (Eaa’hii) Avas clear of The Beat (Dent) after a useful four in 50 4-5. Bady Spiral (Andrews) and Maestro (J. Sellars) sprinted live, the last three in Conspicuous (Stewart) and Black Robe (A. Alidwuod), alter 17 3-5 for the lirst furlong, came home in 41 4-5 to comHappy Ending (Pearce) came homo easily in 44 to run four in 00 3-5. Tuatara (Bowness) and Half Caste (V.
