(From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Foxton District High School Committee was presided over by Air. E. Titcombe. Also present were Id. H. Podmore, J. F. Uiclies, li. Hamer, B. Fletcher, F. Robinson and H. D. Dawson. j\lr. li. Wyeth was appointed secretary and Mr. Tarr and Mr. .Small were elected to fill the two vacancies on the committee. It was ■ decided to forward a letter of thanks to .Mr. I. W. Mudt'ord for his offer to assist as secretary. The resignation of Mr. McConchie was received owing to his transfer to the Auckland district on promotion and members spoke in glowing terms of the valuable services rendered by him. Miss Caird will fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. McConchie. It was decided to remind the Wanganui Education Board that it had not yet taken action against the worst offenders for absenteeism from school as brought before their notice by the committee at its last meeting. A discussion took place on the state of the specialaccount and a committee was set up to go into the finances, as it was found impossible to carry on on the present capitation received and pay a full-time caretaker for the school without, making some special effort during the year to raise cash. set up to check all press reports before they were published. Mr. Dawson voiced l)is opposition and 3aid that the proceedings of every meeting should be published and as far as he was concerned as a committee member and press reporter, he was going to take press reports for publication. It was decided that Mr. F. Robinson be appointed organiser of the shop day to raise funds for the school and it is hoped that the parents and public will cooperate to the full.
