CITIZEN’S SERVICE WELL ATTENDED The National Day of Prayer in Feilding yesterday witnessed a large congregation at the Citizen’s Service held in the Tivoli Theatre. All business houses, including the local hotels, closed at noon in response to the invitation of the Mayor and citizens as well as settlers flocked to the service" which was presided over by the Mayor (Mr. T. L. Seddon). The simple but meaningful service was conducted by the ministers of the several churches and the following hymns were sung: "Awake My Soul," “Jesu Lover of My Soul,” "Eternal Father Strong to Save,” and "Holy Father in Thy Mercy.” The ministers taking part were the Ven. Archdeacon F. H. Petrie (Anglican), Rev. B. O. Carlisle (Baptist), Rev. A. M. Ferguson, M.A. (Presbyterian), Rev. R. T. Alexander (Methodist),. and Major Neeve (Salvation Army). The Scripture readings were taken from Psalm 46 and 1 S. Peter 111, 7-17. The short but impressive service which opened with the observance of one minute’s silence, concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
