Feilding Lire Stock Sale

MUTTON AND BEEF DEMAND FIRM STORE HOGGETS SELL ACTIVELY Prime maiden ewe mutton changed hands at the Feilding live stock sale yesterday fit 50s, the highest price for mutton realised for many months. Other good pens of maiden ewes made 41s and 41s lOd, while the heavy prime wethers in short supply made from 40s to 43s lOd. The offering of 2000 head of fat sheep changed hands under good competition with outside buyers operating freely. One pen of 120 fat hoggets changed hands at 29s Id. In the beef section, the short supply of station cattle plus a firm enquiry saw the price per 100 lbs. move up again. Store hoggets met with a good sale with an active enquiry for the short offering. In other sections prices remained steady. Fat Sheep Two thousand head of fat sheep made up of 1000 ewes, GOO hoggets and 400 wethers, were yarded. The quality was not so strong and most of the limited station cattle were hardly finished and some actually on the iight side. However, this did not deter nuyers who competed freely and the rate per 100 lbs. advanced to over 40s.
