Feilding Presbyterian Church
I A large congregation assembled at the induction of Rev. A. M. Ferguson, M.A., as minister of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Feilding, on Wednesday evening. The Moderator of the Presbytery, Rev. A. A. Brash, presided and was supported by Rev. G. W. T. Hercus (Presbytery clerk), | Rev. R. Crockett (Bulls), Rev. Dun , (Westmere), Rev. A. W. Baxter (Apiti), Rev. Morrison Sutherland and Mr. T. Pagan. The visiting ministers addressed the minister and congregation respectively, while the prescribed questions were satisfactorily answered by the incoming minister and the Moderator then formally completed the induction. The congregation later adjourned to the Church Hall where a welcome reception was given to Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson. This proved to be a very nappy function during which the occasion was taken to say farewell to Mr. Morrison Sutherland who has filled the vacancy for some months very acceptably. Mr. Sutherland was presented with some volumes as a slight momento of his stay with St. Paul’s Church. Goodwill messages were received from Rev. A. L. Dixon, Rev. W. T. Blight (Methodist Church, Feilding) and Mr. Thos. Watson (Melbourne). Rev. Ilercus conveyed apologies from Interim Moderator at his inability to be present and also from Rev. Warnock. The serving of supper concluded a very satisfactory gathering. At this week’s meeting of the Ist Feilding Boy Scout Troop an interesting visitor was Cpl. Anderson, assistant Scoutmaster of the 194 Troop, Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A., who is in the Dominion as a corporal in the Marine Corps. Cpl. Anderson inspected the troop, then gave a talk on scouting activities in America and demonstrated how scouting assisted him in recent experiences in the Pacific. He emphasised that to Scouts real manhood Is brought through partici - pation in scouting activities. At the conclusion the visitor presented to the troop several books on scouting in America and a large bag of walnuts.
