Proving It Again
A number of electors will no doubt be surprised to learn that a Licensing referendum is to be held again in conjunction with tiic General Elections on September 25tli. The fact is, the law declares that a referendum on the licensing question must be taken at every General Election provided that a period of over two years has elapsed between polls. it is therefore necessary that all electors should unfailingly record their votes on the issue. Neglect to do so might make the impossible become possible, allowing prohibition to be imposed on New Zealand by a small minority. Here is the number of anti-prohibi-tion votes on the occasion of the last five referendums: 19-2 0.15,39(5 i92s ihvns 1935 578,66(3 1938 043,120 This is convincing evidence that New Zealand refuses to indulge in a prohibition experiment.
