Feilding Patriotic Fund

It is evident from enquiries received that some doubt still exists as to the distinction between the National Patriotic Fund and the Feilding Patriotic Fund. The National Appeal is made once in each year and the funds raised are used for the benefit of our troops, sailors and airmen overseas and in camps in New Zealand, while the purely local fund is required for the provision of unaddressed parcels quarterly and for presentations to local men before departing overseas. At the present time, approximately £l3O per quarter is required to meet these activities and it is of interest to x'peord that since the inception of the fund, a total of approxiimitely £6OO has been expended on presentations and £9OO on parcels. Periodically therefore, an appeal is made locally for donations to assist these purely local activities and just now there is a call for support to enable immediate commitments to be met. Recent donations are acknowledged as follows:—lied Cross Ladies’ Sewing Guild, 10s; E. P. Hosking'j £2; Feilding Territorial Association dance, 21/8/43, £3 ss; 8.M., 3s; card evening (Mesdames Cleland and Knight), £1 Is; F. J. Allen, 10s; Miss E. O’Halloran, £1; W.W.S.A. dance, 28/8/43, £3 6s 9d; .Mrs. W. T. Crooke, £2; Feilding Ladies’ Golf Club, £l.
