Germany Attacks Sweden Over Sinking of Ships

LONDON, Aug. 20. The German Overseas News Agency to-day gave the German version of the recent sinking, with their crews, of two Swedish fishing vessels. It said that the vessels were in the Skagerrak, off Denmark, which tho Germans classed as banned waters. The News Agency alleged that the vessels were acting in a manner which constituted direct support for Germany’s enemies and warned that in future appropriate action would be taken against all vessels found in prohibited waters.

The German radio to-day attacked the Swedish press for the firm line it has taken over the sinkings and claimed that the Swedish newspapers v/ere showing an unfortunate misunderstanding of the realities and suggested that they were under British and American influence.
