Meat Board Flections
There has been a minor revolution staged within the ranks of sheepowners as concerns the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, a move organised by Jhe New Zealand Farmers’ Union in opposition to what had come to be considered by a majority of farmers as an ultra-conservative clique who had long remained in control of this mportant producers’ organisation. With good reason had it been declared that once elected to the Meat Board a man was there for life.
It is 3lot suggested that members, of cither the board or electoral college, were otherwise than concerned to do their best for the meat industry. But their concern did not inspire enterprise or a readiness to contemplate new ideas. Growing dissatisfaction was realised with this election which has resulted in a total victory for the new, and it is hoiked, progressive element. Problems for the remaining war period, and in particular for the post-war era, will require a freshness of outlook and resiliency of mind such as was not possessed by the Board in the past.
