The Times TUESDAY, AUGUST 31, 1943. Feilding Show to Resume
Welcome news is the decision of the Feilding A. and P. Association to resume the holding of its annual show which will bo held early in February next. Feilding is probably the greatest stud sheepbreeding district in the Dominion and it is only proper that there should be an annual exhibition featuring this important industry. Townspeople may not appreciate the great and valuable influence that our A. and P. shows have had in building up the standard of our pedigree stock, and through these lifting the whole standard of New Zealand’s flocks and herds. It is doubtful if anj other country in the world possesses now an overall standard, either of pedigree or grade stock, as high as that in this Dominion.
The way in which A. and P. shows have contributed to this satisfactory position has been by providing- closely-placed comparisons of various entries, thus providing a most intensive education to exhibitors and visiting stockmen. And of these shows generally Feilding s was a very considerable member, preeminent in sheep exhibited at an ideal season—a show of consequence also in other classes of stock, particularly in dairy animals and pigs, for both of which the district within range of Feilding has been an important breeding- centre. Replies to circulars sent out by the Association indicate that worth-while support will be accorded the coming show, and with the constantly improving war situation it is to be expected that the measure of Support will increase.
