Supply of Gumboots
A reply has now been received by the secretary (Miss S. H. Siddells) of the Pahiatua branch of the Farmers’ Union to the inquiry regarding the possibility of supplies of gumboots coming forward. The branch instructed the secretary to communicate with the Dominion secretary, and Air. A. P. O’Shea has replied that there are no gumboots available, but he believes a small shipment is expected shortly. Mr. O’Shea adds that the Government had not informed him as to how these are to be distributed, but he imagined that it will be the same as the alarm clocks and that they will be distributed through the Federation of Labour and then only to people who have paid their union dues.
