A complimentary evening was tendered Lieut. Hancock, Lieut. Maurice, Pie. James, Sgt. Duigan and Pte. Robertson recently. In the absence of Mr. D. Couper, Mr. Jewell made tho usual presentation to the guests. Mrs. Smith, on behalf of the Patriotic Sewing Guild, came forward with kits of knitted comforts fdr these boys, hoping they would prove useful. Music for dancing was supplied by Misses B. and M. Thompson with extras by Mrs. F. Thompson. Onco again the fortnightly card tournament held at Ruahine proved to be an enjoyable evening. Winners were: Ladies, Mis- J. McMillan, with Miss A. Hall winning the consolation. Men, Mr. V. Thompson with the consolation going to Mr. W. Simpson. Despite the rough night last Friday, thore was quite a good gathering at the dance sponsored by tho Rangiwahia branch of the St. John Ambulance. Music was supplied by Misses B. ana M. Thompson.
