U.S. Coalmine Casualties Greater Than War Losses
Eeceived Wednesday, 9.60 p.m. NEW YORK, July 6. Full compliance with the statuatory requirements for the protection of minors has been ordered by Mr. Harold Ickes in his capacity as Coalmines Administrator. He pointed out that since Pearl Harbour more men have been killed or injured in coalmines in the United States than were killed, wounded or missing in all branches oi America’s armed forces. A total o. 1180 men wore killed and 7500 injured in coalmines In 1942. The safely provisions are expected to facilitate production and make up the loss due to strikes.
