Diamond Wedding

MR. AND MRS. W. W. WILSHER The diamond anniversary of their wedding was celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. \N . W. Wilsher, of 21 Edgeware Road. Palmerston North, on Saturday, when, following luncheon at the P.D.O. tearooms, tho members of the family, all of whom were present, met at their parents’ residence. Many telegrams of congratulation were received, but most prized was a radio message from Private D. A. Wilsher, who is a prisoner of war In Italy. This was contained in a letter from the Apostolic Delegate in Sydney, and had been sent out from the camp, com yin-T mngratu’a Air. and Mrs. Wilsher were married in ISS3 by Rev. Mr. Cammed at the residence of the bride’s parents, at Belmont. The best man at the wedding was Mr. George Jones, of Palmerston North, and he was present at Saturday's celebrations. Mi. Wilsher was born in Ilitchin, England, 87 years ago and arrived in New Zealand in 1879. He lived at the Hutt for a tlnv, and in Wellington for three years, and came to the Palmerston North district in 18S6. He was engaged in farming in the Kelvin Grove district until 1919. when lie retired and came to live in the city, lie was for some time a member of the Kairanga County Council, the Kelvin Grove School Committee, and a director of th -j Farmers’ Dairy Union. Airs. Wilshci, who was Aliss Alice Gosling, was born m Belmont, 80 years ago, and is a daughter of the late Air. and Airs. W. Gosling. There is a family of eight—Mesdames E. A. Meacheam (Alang&tainoka), j. a. Al< Anulty (R&kaunul), Miss Rose Wilsher (Palmerston North), Messrs, w. W. Wilsher (Plimmerton), G. A. Wilsher (Auckland), A. E. Wilsher (Wanganui), H. h. Wilsher (Whangarel), and j. f. Wilsher (Hukanui). There are also 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
