Britain’s Huge Mobilisation Of Human Resources

Received Sunday, 9.5 p.m. LONDON, Mar. 6. Mr. G. H. Ince (Under-Secretary to the Ministry of Labour) speaking in London, said there was no doubt that Britain was mobilised to a greater degree than any nation in the world. He paid special tribute to the women for the extent to which they had taken their places in all the industries ana services of the country. Mr. Ince said registrations under the National Service Act and Employment Order amounted to about 18,000,000 men and women. With additional registration of boys and girls, special industrial registrations and registrations for fire prevention duties, the Ministry of Labour had been called on to register no fewer than 25,000,000 persons since the outbreak.

The fact that mobilisation had reached high degree did not mean that they could now sit back: A big call-up for the forces was to be made this year and increased munitions workers would mean an even greater strain on the men and women resources of the future.
