A.N.A. Club Activities
There were very large attendances at the A.N.A. Dance Hall at tho week-end, including men of all the New Zealand Services as well as members of the U.S. Marine Corps. Hostesses on Saturday evening were Mesdames Pago and K. Pullar, Misses D. Haggitt and K. Garner, assisted by Mesdames K. Clayton, A. Smith, Lawson, Miss E. Bosworth, Messrs A. Smith, Chapman, Bennett, Hill-Motion, liatcliff e, Evans (cloak room), Misses J. Ladyman, Torstensen (soft drinks). Music for dancing was contributed by the Revellers’ orchestra and members of the force 3. Winners of the Monte Carlo were Miss Brodwick and Gnr. J. Bolesworth. On Sunday, tho hostesses were assisted by Mesdames Hunter Will, Thomas C. ! Armstrong, C. Anderson, Hiddleston, P. West and Maccasey, Misses N. Hansel, Pam Smith and V. Royal (games), Mr. Drake (indoor bowls), the Misses L. E. and R. Warren (soft dirnks). Donations
of tomatoes were gratefully received from Miss Laing, also lettuces from tho Women’s Service League and Mrs. J. Grant.
At the canteen at the A.N.A. Club during the week-end, there were 237 teas and 32 suppers served to men of the forces. The organisation responsible for the servico was the West End Boy Scouts’ Committee and tho hostesses were Mesdames D. Watson, D. H. Cook, A. Lovell, and Miss Webster, assisted by Mesdames Dear, Harris, Price, Caldwell, Jones, Collins, McCulloch, Kennedy, Gray, Townley, Murray,
Maul, and Misses B. Souness, B. Davey, N. Caldwell, H. Johansen, I. Smith and
«K. Cunneen. Tho Girls’ Music Club, assisted by members of the Forces, was responsible for the entertainment during the week-end. The A.N.A. Lounge was in charge of Mesdames M. Sinclair and W. Riddet, assisted by Mesdames Speight and Palmer, and Misses J. Caverill and N. Mahon.
