Whirlwind Leaves Trail of Damage

A whirlwind struck the Kaiapoi district at 11 o’clock to-day and did damage in a narrow strip from Clarkville to Ivairaki, a distance of 10 miles. It finished at sea where a waterspout formed. In parts,’ sheds were lifted from their foundations, roofs were torn off farm buildings and in one paddock, a cloverseeder overturned. A motor car was also lifted, turned round and deposited in a ditch. There were mauy terrifying experiences for residents, but no injuries.
