Blackberry Picker Struck By Bus
l’cr Press Association. AUCKLAND, Feb. 28. When she was knocked down by % bus near Te Awamutu, a middle-aged woman suffered a fractured skull which caused her death in hospital. She was Miss Groce Schmidt, aged 46, of Te Awamutu. The victim had been picking blackberries at the side of the road and she ran across the road directly in front of the bus. The driver swerved to avoid her, but she was already too. far across the road. In swerving, the bus left the side of the road and went over a six-foot bank. It did not overturn, however, and was undamaged. The driver and some of the 10 passengers suffered minor abrasions.
