TABLE FLAT The January meeting was to take the form of a picnic in the bush for the children, but owing to the weather conditions, it was held at the home of Mrs. McMurtrie, when the children px-esent spent a pleasant afternoon with indoor games, etc. Miss R. Elliott presided, and the following competitions were arranged:—February: A bottle of preserved plums, oatcaaes (speciai prize), a nightdress or pyjamas, a oowl of dahlias, the best dahlia, the best bloom and an exhibition of Garden Circle gladioli with names attached. It is hoped that Mrs. Stanley, of the Oroua Federation, will be present and the meeting will be held in the school. March; Cream puffs, thrift article, collection of six blooms. April; Pikelets, flour bag, pillow-case, decorative vase of flowers. May: Butterfly cakes, present for parcel funds, and autumn decorations. CHELTENHAM The January meeting was held at the Community Centre, Feilding, when Mrs. Short presided over a good attendance of members and visitors. A letter was received from a soldier overseas, acknowledging receipt of a parcel from the Institute. The Golden Thread, an article from Home and Country was read by Mrs. Moorman and will be taken in February by Mrs. Corkill. The competition for a soft toy horse was won by Mrs. Funnell. The March competitions will be for three zinnias and three wholemeal scones. Nominations for the committee for the coming year were received. Suggestions in regard to future meetings were considered and will be brought before the February meeting. It was agreed that in March as well as the usual competitions, there would be a display of flowers by members. Everyone was asked to contribute towards this display. A National Savings Card was presented to Baby Oliver. A pleasant feature of the afternoon was an interesting talk by Mrs. I. Campbell, who has recently returned to New Zealand after spending over three years in America, chiefly in Columbia. At the conclusion of her talk, she was presented with a basket of beautiful gladioli blooms which had been arranged by Mrs. Barltrop. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Ancell, Barltrop and Wenzell.
