Caring for Crippled Children

Mr. W. G. Black presided over a meeting of the general committee of the Manawatu branch of the Crippled Children Society held yesterday. Grateful acknowledgment was made of the receipt, of £95 3s 7d from the Palmerston Nor»h Commercial Travellers' Club, being branch’s share of the proceeds of their recent charity day, which had been formally handed over to the chairman an-d thanks duly conveyed. It was decided to convey congratulations to the club cn the meritorious, success of their street day Appreciation was also expressed of the generous donation by the Manawatu Machinery Exchange Co., Ltd., of a duplicator, it being unanimously agreed to offer life membership to the firm; also to Colonel C. G. Powles for a donation towards the vocational training of one of the boys. A life membership subscription was I’eceived from Mr. C. Lashley. Another generous donation acknowledged was that of £2O from the Palmerston North Rotary Club towards Christmas presents for the children. Account? amounting to £4l 3s lOd were passed for payment.
