Miss AI. Jones, of New Plymouth, former general secretary of the Palmerston North Y.W.C.A., is a visitor to Palmerston North, and the guest of Airs. J. Rainforth, Russell Street.

At a recent meeting of the delegates to the Manawatu Ci'oquet Association, the resignation of Airs. W. J. Robertson, as president on account of her removal to Auckland, wa-s accepted with regret and appreciation placed on record of her services. Airs. R. AlcAlurray was elected to the position, Mrs. E. Baxter replacing Airs. AlcAlurray as a vice-president.

At the singing recital given by the pupils of the Palmerston North Girls’ High School on Thursday evening, opportunity was taken by Air. T. P. Hart, chaii'man of the Parents’ Association, to offer congratulations to Aliss E. E. Stephens, principal, on her appointment as a member of the consultative committee recently set up by the Government to consider the post-primary curriculum and the general principles undei'lying desirable reforms.

Mrs. Emily May Chapman, wife of Air. C. H. Chapman, M.P., died in her sleep yesterday morning at her home in Kilbii'nie. Her passing will be a gi'eat loss to Wellington as Mrs. Chapman had given many years of devoted service to various welfare societies in the city For twelve consecutive years, from 1929 to 1941, she was a member of the Hospital Board, and she was an original member of the Wellington Red Cross Society, which was set up in 1919.
