Opening of Golf Season

The official opening of the Pahiatua Golf Club was held on Sunday afternoon in fine weather. There was a fair attendance of members and visitors. The links were in excellent condition for the beginning of the season. Mr. W. Hall Watson, in tho absence of the president (for whom he apologised), declared the links open and in doing so called on the members to rally round and keep tho club going. He mentioned that there were several aew members joining up and it looked as though tho club would have a very successful season. Mr. Watson remarked on the work done by those responsible for the grazing of tho links, the groundsman, and the band of workers who cleaned up the club house ready or the opening day. He called for a vote of thanks to all those responsible, which was heartily given. During the afternoon a Canadian foursome was played and the winners were Aliss K. Dick and Mr. H. Gardner. The ladies provided afternoon tea.
