Saved from Angry Bull.

Attacked and gored by an excited bull, a Katmiro (Taranaki) farmer was saved from benig seriously injured by the bravery of his sister-in-law. The farmer, Mr. George W. Gibson, Egmont Road, Kaimiro, however, received lacerations and abrasions that necessitated his removal to the New Plymouth Hospital, where his condition was reported to be satisfactory. Mr. Gibson was dehorning cattle on his farm when a large Holstein bull in a nearby paddock became excited. It had a chain attached to its nose, but was running loose. Fearing that the bull might attempt to jump the fence, Mr. Gibson went into the paddock with the intention of securing the bull by its chain so that it could neither harm itself nor anyone else. Once Mr. Gibson was in the paddock, however, the bull gave him no chance, and he was tossed twice before his sister-in-law was able to come to his rescue and drive the bull away. If it had not been for the rescue by his sister-in-law, some time might have elapsed before he received help, for the only other possible assistance was that of a son, who had gone to the house some distance away to procure tools.
