Japanese Arrested for Trespass on U.S. Naval Base

WASHINGTON, Nov. 5.

Officers of tho Federal Bureau of investigation have arrested five Japanese in Hawaii and charged four of them with trying to enter the Pearl Harbour naval base by using false identification cards. The fifth is charged with supplying these cards to the others.

This action follows a demand to Congress by the American Secretary for War, Mr. 11. L. Stimson, for powers for President Roosevelt to declare martial law in Hawaii to prevent sabotage and other subversive activities. Mr. Stimson said there w’ere more than 40,000 aliens, mostly Japanese, in Hawaii.
